Spicy Garlic Noodles: Recipe You Must Try (Maybe)!

Okay, ingredients time! You gotta gather all the things first. No shortcuts! (Except maybe a little shortcut. We all do it, eh?)

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz Noodles (Spaghetti, Ramen, Udon… whatever you like!)
  • 4 cloves Garlic, minced (More if you *really* like garlic. I do!)
  • 2 tbsp Soy Sauce (Good quality, yes?)
  • 1 tbsp Sesame Oil (The secret ingredient!)
  • 1 tbsp Chili Garlic Sauce (Or more, if you brave!)
  • 1 tsp Sugar (Balances the spicy!)
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Ginger (Adds warmth!)
  • 1/4 cup Vegetable Broth (Or water, if you lazy!)
  • Green Onions, chopped (For fancy topping!)
  • Sesame Seeds, toasted (More fancy! More flavor!)
  • Optional: Cooked Chicken, Shrimp, or Tofu (Make it a real meal!)

Now, the fun part! The cooking! Don’t be scared, it’s not rocket science. Just follow the steps, okay?

Instructions:

  1. Cook the noodles according to package directions. Don’t overcook! Nobody likes mushy noodles.
  2. While noodles cooking, prepare the sauce. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sesame oil, chili garlic sauce, sugar, ground ginger, and vegetable broth. Mix it good!
  3. Once noodles are cooked, drain them well. Get rid of all that water!
  4. In the same pot (less dishes!), heat a little bit of oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, until fragrant. Don’t burn the garlic! That’s bad!
  5. Pour the sauce into the pot with the garlic. Bring to a simmer. Let it bubble a little bit.
  6. Add the cooked noodles to the sauce. Toss everything together until the noodles are well coated. Make sure every noodle gets some love!
  7. If using, add cooked chicken, shrimp, or tofu to the pot. Toss again. Heat it through.
  8. Serve immediately. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Looks pretty, eh?
